Seagate is looking to make storage sexy. They have designed, developed and manufactured a portable drive that is just 7 millimeters thin with a 100 percent stainless steel enclosure that just gleams.

The drive capacity is small at 500 GB but perhaps other models will come out with more capacity later. However, for many users an extra half a gigabyte of portable storage space is all they require and with some Apple-like design excellence it could really turn some heads even from the Apple fanboys on the trail.

Seagate have simply named the drive the Seagate Seven after the 7 millimeters height of their storage device. They are playing up their 35 year history in the storage industry no doubt to remind potential buyers that Seagate is still a brand you can trust with your data. The device is actually so thin that it is thinner than the iPhone 6.

The technology behind the new hard disk drive is similar to the Seagate Angsana drive which is just 5 millimeters thick. The Seagate Seven is being launched in celebration of the 35th anniversary of the first mass produced 5.25-inch disk drive for personal computers. Seagate have done us proud here.
