Samsung Won't Be Manufacturing Any More Chips For Apple
It seems that Apple will stop buying processors from Samsung for its upcoming smartphones.
The iPhone 8 (hypothetical name), which is expected to make its appearance in 2017, will have the Apple A11 processor, which will be exclusively manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, or TSMC.
According to BGR, the reasons why Apple will stop relying on Samsung to manufacture its processors are mainly due to the fact that because Samsung is its main competitor in the field of smartphones, plus Apple is extremely satisfied with the 10nm production process applied by TSMC. Finally, TSMC uses the integrated fan out technology that allows the production of lighter and more efficient chips.
There are rumors that Samsung will manufacture Snapdragon 830 chips for Qualcomm, which will be based on the 10nm architecture.
