Prisma: The New App That Can Turn Your Photos Into Paintings!
New technologies have changed many things in our lives, and various things that could be considered to be difficult or special in the past, are now part of our daily lives. Case in point: with the help of a new app called Prisma for iOS devices, you can have a small artist in our pocket. So, every time you take a new photo with your smartphone, you can convert the image directly to a painting!
Since all these photo editing apps began to spread, everyone- more or less- was tempted to edit the photos that were taken in order to make them as unique as possible, and of course, more competitive in the “like” wars.
It's obvious that Instagram is undoubtedly the king of this trend, having surpassed 500 million users worldwide, but what happens if someone wants to be really original?
With Prisma, you can turn any picture of your choice, to a painting! The app, which is currently only available in the App Store, provides 33 different filters, some of them inspired by the painting styles of Picasso, Roy Lichtenstein, Modrian, Van Gogh, Munch and others, giving the photos a sense of comic or manga illustrations!

The truth is that Prisma is a very entertaining and addictive app. All you need, then, is to download it for free from the App Store or Google Play and start testing it. Unfortunately, it’s not available for Android devices yet, but it will become available very soon!
This means the app works by uploading pics to Prisma's servers where they get converted and then downloaded again on users' phones. It seems that with the Android launch, the number of new users installing the app surpassed their expectations and the servers are having a hard time keeping up with all the new requests.
Since the picture-to-painting conversion is not done locally on users phones, it also means that the source code behind the conversion wizardry is kept secret, on Prisma Labs Inc.servers.
