Long queues for Destiny's midnight launch last night
It’s only a few hours since Destiny was launched for the PS3, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox 360, and gamers all over the world are more than excited to get their hands on it. In fact, yesterday’s midnight release of the game found tons of people waiting in lines outside stores who wished to be the first ones to taste Bungie’s (the developer behind the Halo franchise as well) 5-year-old work that cost an astonishing amount of money that reached $310 million. That’s actually one of the most expensive games ever made, if not the most expensive.
Destiny received a lot of advertising in the previous months, which made fans expect it even more. The games is sold for about $50, but an online subscription (Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus) is required in order to play the game, as Bungie has stated back in Februray 2013, although some say that you can play the game alone without a subscription, but you still have to have an active internet connection anyways. Nonetheless, you’ll be missing out on a lot without the online features of the game.
There might be a future PC release of Destiny, but not anytime soon unfortunately. Destiny’s design lead director Lars Bakken told Eurogamer:
“I wish it was that simple. It's pretty complicated. That doesn't mean it can't happen in the future, it just means it won't happen right now.”
Steam Database however does cite Destiny to become available in March 2015, so there’s still hope for some good news to come to the surface in the near future.
Reviews are expected to hit the web in the following days, but from what we’ve heard so far (we haven’t really tested it ourselves yet) it lives up to the expectations of fans and is unlikely to get bad ratings.
Eurogamer streams live Let's Play videos for Destiny, so be sure to check them out as well. Here is the first video of their uploads:
