Google Chromecast Is Launched Today In The UK!
Good news for the UK techies, leaked data from Dixon’s site shows that March 19th is the day when Google’s Chromecast finally becomes available on the markets. Now, we know that there have been several misleading announcements with respect to the Chromecast release, such as Currys’ spokesperson saying in an interview that the release date for the dongle would be back in February.
However, everyone knew that in spite of the false rumors and Google’s uncompromising position of silence, the date of launch was approaching fast. On a side note, even a communiqué from Google stated the launch is scheduled in less than a couple of weeks (that was on March 10).
At the same time, Sundar Pichai – the company’s director of Android – divulged that the end of the month is the final deadline for the release of the Chromecast. And now, as we know for a fact that this date is going to be March 19th today, we can barely contain our enthusiasm in regards to this game changing device!
For those unfamiliar with the Chromecast dongle...
In case you’ve been avoiding tech news websites for the last months and therefore you’re not familiar with what one of Google’s latest projects implies, then here’s the scoop. The Google Chromecast is essentially a miniature stick, which provides non-smart TV set owners to stream media content from mobiles, laptops and desktops directly on the big screen at HDMI quality.
While this little device is already available for the United States markets and the demand for it is constantly growing, UK residents were forced to wait a bit longer before it became available. But not THAT much longer!
With regards to price range for the United Kingdom, it’s safe to assume – based on the $35 it costs in the United States – that it will be somewhere around £30.
