In the final quarter of 2014, it was reported that smartphones by Apple actually accounted for more than half of all new activations in the United States. According to reports, Apple iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus are projected to be at the head of the list when the company releases it's first quarter earnings for the 2015 fiscal year on January 27.

CIRP, Consumer Intelligence Research Partners LLC, released a report that shows that these innovative smartphones drove the number of activations up 22%, increasing Apple's share to 50% of all cell phone activation in the U.S. - an impressive state indeed.

iPhone 6 and 6 Plus Dominate the Market

According to a partner and co-founder of CIRP, Josh Lowitz, the United States market is now dominated by these two mobile phones as shown by sales in Q4 of 2014. Along with other market analysts, he has projected that this trend will continue well into Q1 of this year and beyond.

In second place for new activations is Samsung, South Korea's claim to fame, which accounts for 26% of the US activation market. Meanwhile while Motorola only boasts 4%, LG 11% and Nokia a mere 2%of the activations. These figures make it clear that Apple is the forerunner in smartphone technology and popularity.

Lowitz continued to state that other smartphones such as the Blackberry held such a minimal share of the market that they are hardly worth mentioning. Oddly, it was just a few short years ago that Blackberry played a formidable role in the market that the iPhone is now taking over.

Apple Customers Show Amazing Loyalty

CIRP research clearly indicates just how loyal Apple's iPhone customers are. Much of the new activation success of last quarter is attributed to users of older iPhone models upgrading to the new device. As soon as the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were launched, Apple customers flocked to upgrade.

An astounding 86% of them took advantage of the new technology! Unfortunately for Samsung and LG, 25 and 18 percent respectively switched over to the new iPhone 6. These astonishing figures can account for 43% of Apple's growth rate. In other words, Apple's latest round of iPhones seems to have convinced millions of consumers to make the switch, despite the initial backlash from Bendgate and other criticism.

The Numbers Speak Volumes

CIRP is not the only research group that reports great things about Apple's iPhone upgrades, as another well established group, 451 Research, recently released data from a December 2014 survey.

Of all respondents, 56% stated that they had plans to upgrade or purchase the new iPhone 6 or 6 Plus within the following three months. Furthermore, Counterpoint Research, a leading technology market research group, states that Apple's share of the South Korea market rose by more than 50% - up to 33% of that market as reported in November.

Not only is the new Apple iPhone 6 dominating the market here at home, but it is outdoing Samsung in its native country as well. Customer loyalty is the name of the game in business longevity, and and Apple seems to have a virtually unshakable consumer following.
