YouTube Introducing New Features and Apps for Content Creators and Channel Managers

Youtube is in the process of rolling out a collection of new features and apps for content creators and channel managers.

The arsenal of useful tools will be designed to help busy uploaders, video producers, and channel organizers achieve heightened productivity with less hassle.

According to PCmag.com, Youtube is already working on a video series that will show detailed previews of the features and apps that content creators can expect to see "in the coming months."

The first Creator Preview video has been posted to the site and more are expected to be published on an ongoing basis. The massively popular video site also launched a YoutubeCreator blog to keep us up to date on all the new changes that will be rolled out in the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2014.

The videos will not serve the purpose of showing a final description of the upcoming enhancements and apps - instead, they'll act as visual rough drafts, overviews and plans that will spark dialogue and promote idea exchanges between Youtube and its creators and partners during the development phases.

New Mobile Uploading App Coming Soon

Amongst the new improvements will be a robust mobile channel management app that will make it easier for users to upload and edit content from their tablets and smartphones.

One of the main concerns expressed in Youtube's bi-annual survey is that users aren't able to efficiently perform channel management tasks while mobile.

The new app will change all of that by turning uploading and video management into streamlined processes.

The goal of the new feature and app set is to produce a version of Youtube that is just as efficient on a smartphone as the full site version accessed through a desktop or laptop.

New Ways for Content Creators to Make Money

The developers at Youtube are also looking at ways to integrate additional ways for visitors to donate or contribute to their favorite channels, rather than having to visit a different website to make donations to the owner of the Youtube channel.

Although Youtube hasn't stated exactly how the new funding features will work, we're thinking it will probably be something like a 'Donate' button that links to the channel's attached PayPal account.

According to a report from NetworkWorld, Google is now helping YouTube create new ways for content creators to make money on the site. The Mountain View, California based tech superpower is reportedly developing its own mobile Youtube management app that will aim to enhance and simplify the process of earning advertising revenue on the site.

The ability to take contributions and donations from fans and supporters directly within the Youtube interface could open up an entirely new income opportunity for online media creators and distributors.

Crowdsourced Captioning Feature

Captioning is also expected to become more accurate and socially involved now that video watchers will be able to submit their own captions or caption corrections. 

It is safe to assume that channel managers will have the opportunity to review and approve each caption before it is posted to the video. 

Users will be able to submit captions in all of the 60+ languages that Youtube supports. With about 80 percent of the site's traffic coming from international sources, the new community captioning features should help foreign users enjoy video content more.

It will be interesting to see if Google Translate functionality will eventually be incorporated as well.
