Verizon Hopes To Draw In More Customers With A $100 Discount On The LG G Pad

If you’re shopping around for a new tablet, but are not willing to spend an arm and a leg for it, then I’ve got some good news. LG and Verizon have announced a $100 discount on the LG G Pad, starting from 6th of March. To acquire the 8.3-inch tablet for less than $100 you will of course need to sign a two-year contract. The promotion continues later into March, after which the popular device will be available for $199.90.

Here’s the catch

Before you go sprint to the closest Verizon storefront, you should know that the South Korean manufacturer didn’t put too much into this little fellow. In fact, considering that the LG G Pad comes with a 1.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor and 2 GB of RAM, you could say that the device packs overall mediocre hardware to say the least. While it is true that it includes a 5 megapixels rear-cam and a 1.3 megapixel front-cam, the maximum display resolution is 1920x1200 IPS and hence, subpar compared to its competitors.

Then again, it’s not all bad

Even though it has a second-rate processor and display, rest assured the LG G Pad is able to run Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 smoothly. Moreover, the tablet comes with the famous Q Pair app that allows you to sync notes between devices. On a side note, over the past couple of years, LG has put in a lot of effort to design an app that pairs incoming calls and messages from the Android phone to the tablet; thanks to Q Pair you won’t get the same notifications twice.

In all fairness, G Pad falls under the shameful category of failed Android tablets. On the other hand, I must admit that the low-price point of $100 makes it a great bang for the buck.
