New Best Free Games for iOS
We’re back, with more new free games for you to try out this week. Just like last time, this list will review the best and most recent freemium games for this week; in this article here you can find the newest best paid games for iOS as well. The main characteristic of this week’s games is that there are plenty of new strategy ones, and endless arcades are almost non-existent, which is a big surprise considering they dominated the game charts for a long time. I don’t know if this is an indicator that Endless Arcades are losing popularity, since it’s still too early to tell, but for all we know, next time the list could be full of them again, so only time will tell.
Let’s look at the new titles:
1. WWE Immortals by Warner Bros
I never was a fan of wrestling games personally, although I have to admit that the “Dead or Alive” games are among my favorite console game titles. Nevertheless, I know that many of you enjoy this type of games and WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) will satisfy you.
The game includes famous wrestlers, like The Rock, and transforms them into super heroes with exaggerated moves, powers, and of course, costumes. There’s a variety of wrestlers you can choose from, both male and female ones, and you can either play by yourself or take part in online battles and win rewards. The controls are simple; it’s basically a matter of tapping and swiping without much more to it.
Apart from each character’s unique super power, you can increase your powers and improve your moves by leveling up. The graphics are definitely one of the game’s strongest points and I find it unlikely that anyone would be disappointed by them. All in all, WWE Immortals will satisfy the fans of wrestling and probably anyone who enjoys a good battle.
WWE Immortals is available for Android devices too.
2. Raids of Glory by Chillingo Ltd
The first strategy game on the list is Raids of Glory from the same team that brought us “Cut the Rope”. In this game the player builds his own pirate stronghold in a tropical island, forms an army of ruthless and fearless pirates, defends the stronghold from enemy pirates’ attacks, and conquers enemy bases in order to become the most fearsome pirate in the world. In Raids of Glory you can use the “tap-to-target” touch commands that give you complete strategic control over your armies on the battlefield, which means that you can control each and every member of your team. It also supports multiplayer, where you can battle against thousands other players or form a gang with your friends. The graphics are stunning and the gameplay is fun and easy.
3. Sparkle Epic by 10tons Ltd
Sparkle Epic is a fascinating marble popper action puzzle game that sparkles in a good, not-Twilight way. The player must match the orbs before they fall into the abyss and find their way through mysterious, beautifully designed lands. Gameplay is easy: the player taps on the screen where they want to launch orbs, and match three or more orbs of same color to make them disappear. The game includes more than 100 levels to complete, each one with a goal to clear, plus many different orb types that you can pop, such as boulders and bombs, and plenty of power ups and boosters. The IAP is quite persistent though, so that’s a minus for Sparkle Epic.
Sparkle Epic is available for Android devices as well.
4. Gemcrafter: Puzzle Journey by Playmous
As the title suggests, Gemcrafter is a puzzle game that features gems which you’ll have to move around the game field, in order to match three of them and craft new variations so as to use later. You can use magic amulets to solve puzzles and build your unique puzzle solving strategy. The game features 100 levels in four different locations, as well as characters that will give you advice and guide you through the levels. Apart from the normal gems, there are a handful of rare gems that you can collect by opening hidden treasure chests while you play. It also supports online gaming with friends, which gives you the opportunity to fight or help each other and solve puzzles. Just like the previous game on the list, the IAP makes its appearance very obvious, but it’s a good puzzle game anyways.
Gemcrafter: Puzzle Journey is available for Android devices too.
5. SineWave by Mad Fellows Ltd
A pleasant surprise on the new games, SineWave will captivate you with its amazing dubstep soundtrack! In SineWave you are the pilot of a spaceship and use quick swipes to destroy enemy drones by tapping, while listening to great dubstep music by Noisia, Zomboy, SKisM and many others. The games were created by the developers of Guitar Hero and DJ Hero series so you know you’re playing a quality game that it’s very hard to let down.
Initially you are given 3 free songs to listen but unfortunately you’ll have to buy other songs via the IAP system if you want more.
6. Devils & Demons by HandyGames
Devils & Demons is the 2nd strategy game on this list. It has a great plot with an out of this world element, plus a nice gameplay. The game states:
“Fight hordes of savage demons and undead while you clash with powerful boss enemies like necromancers and dragons. Take on a myriad of quests in a living fantasy world with many events, encounters and of course epic war loot. Enjoy the action, excitement and fun as you increase the power of your group of heroes and pave your way to the top.”
It’s quite self-explanatory so let’s see what the game offers: you collect a variety of characters that you can add to your team, each with their own class, handful of skills, spells and abilities (the same goes for enemies). A big advantage for Devils & Demons is that it has HD graphics and cinematics.
However, although the game is free, the ads sort of ruin the experience because they take up a big part of the screen and you can only get rid of them via the IAP, where you can also buy items that are unavailable to you otherwise.
Devils & Demons is available for Android.
7. The Horus Heresy: Drop Assault by CROOZ, Inc.
To be honest I’ve never heard of the Horus Heresy book series up until now when I checked this game, and while it’s not my cup of tea, this strategy game is objectively interesting and well-made. The player must choose between sides (Loyalist, or Horus as a Traitor) in an on-going civil war that erupted amongst the Emperor's Legions of Space Marines in the 31st Millennium. As a Captain of your troops, you can customize your army and take part in battles. Also, a nice feature is that the player can create a Chapter with other players and challenge others in Live Skirmish combat. IAP is present in this one as one would expect and the gameplay could do with some improvements.
Thus we reached the end of the best free new games list. Look forward to our next articles!
