'KIMOJI' App from Kim Kardashian Becomes Highest Grossing Entertainment App in One Day
The Queen of the Kardashian-West Kingdom is once again in the spotlight for her ventures into business endeavors. This time with a new app called 'KIMOJI', which launched this Monday and managed to become the highest grossing entertainment app in Apple's App Store within 24 hours. The simple yet appealing app gives iOS users access to a library of Kim Kardashian themed emoji icons, which depict Kim portraying various moods and emotions, as well as some emoticons of the famous Kardashian rump.
What Does the KIMOJI App Include?
The app is actually a full-featured QWERTY keyboard pre-loaded with more than 250 exclusive KIMOJI emoticons and designs. It's designed to be compatible with all major messaging apps, including WhatsApp, iMessage, and Facebook Messenger. KIMOJI is being developed in partnership with Whalerock Digital Media and is available for $1.99 in the Apple App Store.

Outranking Netflix, Hulu, HBO Now, and Her Sister?
Right now Kim's new app is doing better than Netflix, Hulu and HBO Now, sandwiching those three apps rankings between her #1 app and her sister's #5 app the Kylie Jenner Official App. Even more impressive is the fact that the brand new app is already ranking as the 11th highest grossing app out of the entire App Store, sharing the spotlight with all-time favorites like Candy Crush, Minecraft and Pandora.
Did KIMOJI Really Almost Crash the App Store?
According to TMZ, at one point on launch day (December 21st, 2015) it was reported that Kim claimed the app was getting an astonishing 9000 downloads per millisecond. Supposedly, the surge was so intense it caused servers to start crashing, requiring the help of Apple's IT team to keep the App Store from literally "crashing." Such statements are so grandiose it's hard to fight the urge to call it all hyperbole, but if these stats are true we might just have to accept the fact that Kim has mastered the art of marketing any iOS app.
Kim Kardashian Starting an App Empire?
This isn't the first time Kim has had tremendous success in the app industry. Last year she released the Kim Kardashian: Hollywood app in partnership with Glue Mobile - a project that was grossing up to $700,000 per day at one point. Altogether that first app brought in about $73 million during 2014, which accounted for more than 30% of Glu Mobile's annual revenue. It remains to be seen whether KIMOJI will be able to do better in the coming months.
