Google Acquires French Startup Moodstocks To Boost AI Development

As it was announced, Google acquired Moodstocks, a French startup company specializing in object recognition using smartphones, something that confirms once again the company’s interest in ​​field of AI.

Unlike other similar products (including the object recognition app by Google), Moodstocks’s product uses the device itself to perform most workload, rather than a server. Now, according to a blog post by a Google’s representative, there is still quite a long way to go in this technology and Moodstocks is going to fill a large part of it.

Moreover, after its acquisition by Google, Moodstocks will stop providing all recognition services provided until now, and its engineers will be assimilated to Google’s research and development department based in Paris. Additionally, it is not known for how much Googled acquired the French startup, and no terms of the deal were disclosed either.

Finally, according to rumors, Google is working on a new feature that allows users with Android devices to perform searches directly, using their photos.
