RecordEditor este un editor de date-fișier, similar cu File-ajutor sau Net-Cobols Cobol-Editor. Acesta utilizează un record de Aspect pentru a formata date în fișierul la un format lizibil. Pentru că știe formatul de domenii, se poate formata rubrici binare ca numere normale, mai degrabă decât afișarea echivalent hex la fel ca majoritatea editorilor hex. Fișierul poate fi editted într-un tabel (foaie de calcul cum ar fi format), sau într-un singur format de înregistrare cu câmpuri merge în jos a paginii.

RecordEditor poate edita următoarele formate:

    * CSV (Comma, Tab, câmpuri delimitered etc) Fișiere de Ferestre si Unix.
    * Fixe fișiere de date de lungime de câmp (atât text și binar) pentru Windows, Unix si Z-OS (IBM mainframe) sisteme de operare.
    * Existente fișiere XML

Record Aspect poate fi fie introduse prin intermediul Layout-Editor sau importate din caiete Cobol.

RecordEditor este scris în Java (6), așa că ar trebui să ruleze pe majoritatea sistemelor informatice.
